History of Rannoch

The Rannoch Corporation, was founded by Nat Turner in 1997 to organize locomotive driving adventures in Europe. In 2003, Nat was joined by his daughter Julia in a successful bid to broaden the range of trips to include unique sailing adventures, small-ship polar expeditions, back-country horse-trekking and other adventures. At that time we operated under the name Rannoch Adventures.

In 2008, Rannoch set up a new division, Rannoch Media, to provide logistics and location services for documentary-television production companies requiring assistance with access in unique destinations. One of Rannoch Media’s projects was arranging for a History Channel production team to shoot the successful documentary, “Getting Out Alive”, a full-hour piece shot in the Russian arctic.

Also in 2008, we decided to develop a new type of adventure expedition, the Documentary Expedition, aimed at the millions of adventure travelers with a keen interest in using digital video and still equipment to document their travels. The concept we hit upon was to offer adventure travel expeditions conducted by professional videographers and producers from the world of documentary television. We would offer documentary expeditions to the most photogenic and telegenic destinations from our already extensive list of locations. But, we would cater to the desire of many photographers and videographers to bring back better video and photos from their travels.

We will soon be announcing a series of photo and video expeditions. Keep checking back for updates!
