Nat Turner - Founder and President

Before he graduated from college, Nat had been in most parts of the US, as well as Cuba, flown parachutists in Canada and passengers into Mexico, piloted a yacht in the Bahamas, and conducted economic research among subsistence farmers in Central America. During the Vietnam War, Nat lived in Thailand and traveled throughout Asia. In a twenty-five year consulting career, Nat worked worked with several international airlines, and managed a number of large-scale projects in difficult overseas locations.  In addition to lifelong interest in travel to new and different destinations, Nat has had been a photographer and videographer since his teens.  He also is a certified rescue scuba diver, rides horseback and has been trained in the operation of steam locomotives.  He has degrees from Cornell, the University of Texas and Harvard and has at various points in his life studied five languages.

 

Julia Turner – Founder and VP Operations 

A lifelong Texan, Julia has traveled throughout Europe, Central America, South America and Africa. She holds a degree in history from Southern Methodist University, and has studied English Literature at Cambridge University. Following her graduation from SMU, Julia was an events planner in Washington, D.C. Julia inherited her family's love of travel and photography, and provided much of the impetus for Rannoch's focus on Documentary Expeditions.  Working with Rannoch over the last six years, Julia has developed a full range of skills in photography, travel planning, customer service, and has studied two languages.  She is also an accomplished equestrian, and competes at national and international level.
